- An electron-tube amplifier in which the anode is at ground potential at the operating frequency. The input is applied between the control grid and ground, and the output is taken from between the cathode and ground. Such an amplifier features high input impedance, low output impedance, and a wide frequency response with little phase distortion. Also known as common-anode amplifier, grounded-plate amplifier, or grounded-anode amplifier.
