Common Intermediate Format
  • Its abbreviation is CIF. A video format which supports both NTSC and PAL signals, and which is used in videoconferencing. Each CIF format is defined by its resolution, the original CIF standard specifying 288 lines and 352 pixels per line, at 30 frames per second. 16CIF, for instance, supports a resolution of 1408 × 1152, at 30 frames per second.
