Dione
  • satellite of Saturn some 800km across and in a 377 000km, 2.7 day orbit. Discovered by Cassini in 1684 and well seen by Voyager 1 in 1980. Dione appears to consist of a mixture of rock and ice and has a heavily cratered and fractured surface consistent with past internal geological activity as well as cratering from meteorite impact.
