dipole antenna
  • A center-fed antenna usually consisting of a straight radiator half a wavelength long, which is split at its electrical center. Its maximum intensity of radiation is perpendicular to its axis, and such antennas are used mostly for radio-frequencies below 3 GHz. Also called dipole (3), dipole radiator, doublet antenna, or half-wave dipole.
