diversity reception
  • A mode of reception in which two or more arriving RF signals, each with the same information, are combined, so as to minimize the effects of fading. Alternatively, the stronger signal can be used. There are various examples, including space-diversity reception, in which there are two or more receiving antennas in separate locations, and frequency-diversity reception, where two or more transmissions at different frequencies are received. Also called dual-diversity reception.
