Eccles-Jordan circuit
  • A two-stage multivibrator circuit with two stable states. In one of the stable states, the first stage conducts while the other is cut off, while in the other state the reverse is true. When the appropriate input signal is applied, the circuit flips from one state to the other. It remains in this state until the next appropriate signal arrives, at which time it flops back. Used extensively in computers and counting devices. Also known as Eccles-Jordan multivibrator, flip-flop circuit, bistable multivibrator, bistable multivibrator, bistable flip-flop, or trigger circuit (2).
