• An instrument whose function depends on the interaction between the magnetic fields produced by the current in one or more moving coils, and the current in one or more fixed coils. For example, two stationary coils may be connected in series with a moving coil, which is attached to an indicating needle. The resulting torque can be used to measure electric current, voltage, or power. Also called electrodynamic instrument.
