electroluminescent panel
  • A light source which consists of an appropriate phosphor layer sandwiched between dielectric layers, which in turn are surrounded by electrode plates, the front electrode plate being transparent. When a suitable voltage is applied to the electrodes, the phosphor layer emits light. Used, for instance, in electroluminescent displays. Also called electroluminescent cell.
