electrostatic attraction law
  • A law which states that the force between two charged particles is directly proportional to the product of their magnitudes, and inversely proportional to the square of their distance. This force occurs along a straight line between the charges, and is a repulsive force if the charges are like, or an attractive force if they are opposite. Also called coulomb's law, or law of electrostatic attraction.
