Extreme Ultra-Violet Explorer
  • US spacecraft launched in 1992 to produce the first full-scale survey of the extreme ultra-violet sky in the 100–1000 +ngstrom wavelength range. It was used to catalogue the sky and to examine spectra of UV-emitting objects including active galactic nuclei and quasars, planetary nebulae, flare stars and white dwarfs before it re-entered the atmosphere in 2002.
