front projection
  • The projection, onto a non-translucent screen, of images sent from a separate unit, and in which the projector and any viewers are on the same side of said screen. Used, for instance, in movie theaters, and front-projection TVs. This contrasts with rear projection, where the images are viewed on a translucent screen, and the projector and viewers are on opposite sides of said screen.
