• Unwanted noise in a component, circuit, device, piece of equipment, or system, due to mechanical vibrations by any contained moving elements, materials, or parts. In a microphone, for instance, such noise can be generated by the protective sheath rubbing against the insulator enclosing the conductors as the cable is flexed. Another example is rain or hail hitting an LNB and causing minor disturbances in the televised image.
