  • The degree of sharpness and distinctness of the displayed image of a monitor. May be expressed, for instance, in terms of the number of pixels displayed, and dot pitch.
  • The resolution a monitor is set at. A common resolution setting is 800×600, meaning that 800 dots, or pixels, are displayed on each of the 600 lines of the display. Frequently, the number of colors is incorporated into this specification, as in 800×600×256.
