p-type semiconductor
  • A semiconductor material which has the addition of trivalent dopants, such as boron or gallium, which contribute mobile holes which increase the conductivity of the intrinsic semiconductor. In this manner, the concentration of holes is much higher, making them the majority carrier. This contrasts with an n-type semiconductor, in which electrons are the majority carrier. Also called p-type material, or p-type (1).
