pinhole detector
  • A device which detects pinholes (2). A typical arrangement involves the use of a precise light source on one side of the material, usually a strip, being evaluated, with a photomultiplier on the other side detecting any incident light aside from the ambient light. Some detectors can sense pinholes of less than 1 micrometer at strip speeds approaching one hundred kilometers per hour. Also spelled pin-hole detector.
