  • Class of comets which approach very close to the Sun. Many collide with it and cease to exist The commonest Sungrazer class is the Kreutz group, whose retrograde orbits take them very close to the Sun. Our knowledge of Sungrazers has been vastly expanded by US Air force satellites used to view the Sun, which also spot Sungrazers.
