• satellite of Uranus discovered in 1787 by William Herschel. It orbits Uranus in 8.7 days in a near-circular orbit in the plane of Uranus’s equator, 438,000km from the planet and is just over 1000km in diameter. Voyager 2’s 1986 flyby of Uranus revealed Titania as a heavily cratered world with deep, wide rift valleys hundreds of kilometres long, possibly formed by thawing and freezing of water with accompanying expansion and contraction.
